The House System

Robert Sandilands Primary and Nursery School operates a house system across the school.

Our four houses are named after castles:  Berkeley (red), Donnington (green), Highclere (yellow) and Windsor (blue).  The children earn team points for their house and compete in house competitions.  The house with the most team points earns a non-uniform day every short term and the House Cup at the end of the year.

Each house has a Y6 House Captain and two Sports Captains.

School Council of Robert Sandilands

The school also has a School Council; the School Council of Robert Sandilands or SCORS.  It is led by three Year Six pupils who take the roles of Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary.

Children in Year One to Year Five then vote for two representatives who attend meetings and take forward ideas.

Librarians and Reading Champions

As well as House Captains, Sports Captains and SCORS Representatives, the school also has Y6 Librarians and Reading Champions. These children help to raise the profile of reading across the school, by helping to organise the library and through support younger children with their reading.

Eco Council

In recent years, the school established and Eco Council.  It is led by two Year Six children, with representatives from across the school who apply for their roles.  This development came from the children's learning and their desire to do more for the environment.  The children have already gained the Bronze Eco-Schools Award.
